Stromatolithes

Shark Bay est l’un des seuls endroits de la planète où l’on peut encore observer des stromatolithes en formation. Il s’agit de structures calcaires formées par des bactéries en eau peu profonde. Ils sont d’une grande importance scientifique car apparus sur terre il y a plus de 3 milliards d’années.

Shark Bay is one of the only places on the planet where modern stromatolites can be observed. These are calcareous structures formed by bacteria in shallow water. They are of great scientific significance because they appeared on Earth more than 3 billion years ago.
